Monthly $29 program offers professional football players mental performance development, live discussions, and practical tools for navigating their careers.
DALLAS, TX — October 14, 2026 — Black Diamond Sports & Entertainment Group, LLC is inviting free-agent and professional football players to participate in The Mind Lab, a virtual athlete development program led by sports agent and sport leadership professional Dr. Brandy Runyan.
The next LIVE session takes place **Thursday, October 15, at 7:00 PM Central**, and will introduce athletes to Runyan's original *Iceberg Assessment*, a self-awareness exercise designed to help athletes better understand the personal and psychological factors influencing their performance, decisions, and professional development.
For many free-agent football players, the time between contracts can be one of the most challenging parts of their careers. Athletes continue training, attending workouts, contacting teams, and preparing for opportunities that may or may not materialize. While physical preparation remains a priority, the mental demands of that uncertainty often receive far less attention.
The Mind Lab was developed to address that side of athlete development.
What's Happening During the October 15 Session?
This month's session will introduce participants to the concept that what others see from an athlete is often only a small part of what's actually happening.
A coach may see confidence, frustration, determination, or inconsistency. What they may not see are the personal experiences, beliefs, fears, expectations, and emotional pressures influencing those behaviors.
Through the Iceberg Assessment, athletes will be encouraged to examine three areas:
- **Above the Surface:** The performance, attitude, preparation, work ethic, and behaviors others observe.
- **Below the Surface:** The thoughts, emotions, motivations, fears, and experiences that may influence those behaviors.
- **The Career Connection:** How greater self-awareness can help athletes respond to setbacks, manage uncertainty, maintain confidence, and prepare for professional opportunities.
The assessment is intended for education and personal development, not clinical diagnosis.
Athlete Development Doesn't Stop When the Season Ends
Runyan, who has worked in professional football representation for nearly two decades, believes athletes need more opportunities to discuss the realities of pursuing and maintaining a professional football career.
"Free agents spend an incredible amount of time trying to stay physically ready for their next opportunity, but there's a lot happening mentally during that process, too," said Runyan. "Some players are dealing with rejection, financial pressure, family expectations, or simply wondering whether another opportunity is coming. Those things matter. The Mind Lab gives athletes a place to work on that part of their development instead of ignoring it."
The program is open to free-agent and professional football players pursuing opportunities across the NFL, CFL, UFL, arena football, and international leagues.
Athletes do not need to be represented by Black Diamond Sports & Entertainment Group to participate.
Monthly Membership — $29
The Mind Lab offers a **$29-per-month membership** for athletes interested in continued mental performance education and development.
Participants can engage in monthly LIVE virtual sessions and access program materials designed to encourage reflection, self-awareness, and personal growth.
The program is designed to complement an athlete's existing physical training and career preparation.
