Black Diamond Sports & Entertainment Group Announces Signing of Defensive End Jalen Mayala

Former North Greenville University defensive standout brings size, athleticism, and championship experience to Black Diamond's professional football roster.

DALLAS, TX — October 14, 2026 — Black Diamond Sports & Entertainment Group, LLC is pleased to announce the signing of defensive end Jalen Mayala to its professional football representation roster. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive prospect joins the agency as he pursues opportunities to continue his playing career at the professional level.

A native of the Atlanta, Georgia area, Mayala brings an impressive physical profile, collegiate experience across multiple programs, and a determination to make the most of his next opportunity.

Mayala's football journey began somewhat unexpectedly. He did not begin playing football until his sophomore year of high school, initially taking up the sport to stay in shape following basketball season. His continued development eventually earned him three-star recruiting recognition in the Class of 2020 and opportunities to compete at the collegiate level.

His collegiate career included time at Indiana University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Valdosta State University, and North Greenville University. His reported accomplishments include championship experience associated with the Gulf South Conference, Bahamas Bowl, Independence Bowl, and Conference Carolinas.

At 6'5" with 36-inch arms, Mayala possesses the length and frame that professional organizations often seek in edge defenders. His reported athletic testing at DASH Performance includes a 4.50-second 40-yard dash, 4.20-second shuttle, 6.90-second three-cone drill, and 36-inch vertical jump.

While primarily a defensive end, Mayala has additional playing experience at outside linebacker, linebacker, tight end, and punter.

"Jalen is an interesting prospect because of his physical tools and the path he's taken to get here," said Dr. Brandy Runyan, founder and owner of Black Diamond Sports & Entertainment Group. "He came into football later than many players, continued to develop, and earned opportunities at several collegiate programs. He's very aware that he still has work to do, and I appreciate that mindset. Our job now is to help him get in front of the right organizations and give him the opportunity to demonstrate what he can contribute."

For Mayala, signing with Black Diamond represents another step toward the long-term professional football career he has envisioned.

"I'm excited that Black Diamond took a chance on me and believes I am someone suitable to work with," Mayala shared. "I am eager to work with the team at BD and accomplish long-term success I envision for myself."

Mayala identifies humility, coachability, and optimism among his greatest strengths. He also takes pride in his ability to adapt to difficult situations and remain focused on personal improvement.

Away from football, he enjoys fishing, sightseeing, working out, and spending time with friends. He has also expressed an interest in supporting charitable efforts involving poverty, hunger relief, and mentorship.

Black Diamond will work with Mayala on professional football marketing, team outreach, career development, and opportunities that align with his athletic abilities and long-term goals.
