A&M-Commerce alum and instructor Brandy Runyan recently celebrated the culmination of a two-year effort to battle fraudulent practices targeting free agents in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Runyan, founder of Black Diamond PR & Sport Management Firm in Dallas, championed the addition of Article 28.1 to the CFL's collective bargaining agreement, marking a big win for ethics in sport. The article aims to safeguard players from fraudsters posing as licensed NFL and CFL agents.

“I am honored to have played a role in securing the inclusion of Article 28.1 in the CFL’s collective bargaining agreement,” she said. “This provision represents a crucial step forward in ensuring the integrity of player-agent relationships and safeguarding the interests of free agent football players.”

Runyan earned her bachelor's in Global Education and her master's in Health, Kinesiology and Sports Studies-Athletic Administration from A&M-Commerce. She is also an instructor for the Department of Health and Human Performance.
